Getting Botox in Colorado? Whether you’re a client or an aspiring injector, knowing who can legally perform Botox matters, big time. With misleading job titles and shady medspa practices popping up, knowing the law isn’t just smart, it’s safe.

🧑‍⚖️ Botox Is A Medical Procedure, Not A Beauty Trend

A woman lies relaxed with her eyes closed while a provider wearing white gloves administers a cosmetic injection near her eye area. The setting suggests a calm, professional environment for aesthetic treatments such as dermal fillers or Botox.

Botox is everywhere now. It’s advertised in salons, gyms, strip malls, you name it. But the truth is, not every injector plays by the rules, and not every clinic puts your safety first.

In Colorado, Botox injections are considered medical services under Rule 800 of the Code of Colorado Regulations. That means they can only be performed by licensed medical professionals, doctors, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and registered nurses (more on this below!).

Not estheticians. Not anyone with a “Botox certification” from a weekend course.

In 2025, Colorado passed House Bill 25-1024. This strengthens oversight of medspas and non-surgical cosmetic procedures as a response to the growing number of operations using cheap injectables with little accountability.

Just because the treatment room smells like lavender oil doesn’t mean the procedure is any less clinical. Botox works best when it’s done precisely, intentionally, and with deep anatomical knowledge. That’s not something you can learn on a Saturday in a hotel ballroom.

So, Who Can Legally Inject Botox In Colorado?

From clients to aspiring injectors, even from estheticians themselves, the question remains the same when it comes to Botox procedures.

The internet’s noisy with unsure answers and certifications are thrown around like confetti. But here’s the truth, grounded in Colorado law and 20 years of clinical experience:

✅ MD/DOs have the full authority to inject and supervise others.
✅ NPs (Nurse Practitioners) may inject independently under their own license.
✅ PAs (Physician Assistants) may inject under the supervision of a licensed physician.
✅ RNs/LPNs can inject, but only under direct physician or NP supervision.

❌ Estheticians are not allowed, even if they claim to be “certified.” They’re legally barred from injecting.
❌ Pharmacist are not authorized for aesthetic injections in any setting.

The Skin Company only has registered nurses as injectors, trained and cross-trained in both the clinical science and art of facial aesthetics. We document every protocol.

Our Botox comes directly from Allergan, the manufacturer, with no middlemen involved. We review every dilution ratio. We reconstitute Botox vials by hand, in-house, not with pre-mixed batches that risk inconsistency.

You’ll never have to ask if your injector is qualified because our providers are proud of their credentials, and we want you to understand exactly who’s treating you, and why they’re the best.

We believe you deserve more than that. You deserve certainty, and that’s what we offer.

5 Red Flags That Your Botox Injector Might Not Be Legal

A woman receiving a cosmetic injection in her cheek while seated in a treatment chair. A provider wearing pink gloves carefully administers the injection using a syringe, gently holding the patient’s face for precision.

Let’s be real, there’s no shortage of places offering Botox these days. Flashy Instagram pages, spa packages, influencer discounts… it’s easy to get drawn in.

But just because a provider looks polished online doesn’t mean they’re practicing legally, or safely.

I’ve spent the last two decades building a clinic rooted in trust and results. And along the way, I’ve seen too many clients come to us after they’ve been burned, physically or financially, by injectors who had no business holding a syringe.

So here are five red flags you have to watch out for:

1. They Call Themselves A “Medical Esthetician”.

Here’s the truth: “medical esthetician” is not a legally recognized license in Colorado, or most other states.

It’s a marketing term, not a credential. Estheticians, no matter how talented, cannot inject Botox, even under supervision.

2. They Dodge Questions About Ownership Or Supervision.

Every medspa that offers Botox in Colorado is legally required to have a medical director.

If your provider can’t clearly tell you who that is, or says something vague like “we work under a doctor,” that’s a huge red flag. Transparency is non-negotiable.

3. The Price Is Suspiciously Low

If you see Botox advertised for $6/unit or paired with a “free facial,” be skeptical.

High-quality, authentic Botox sourced from Allergan, mixed correctly, and injected by a licensed provider costs money. Cut-rate pricing often means diluted product, expired stock, or worse, unlicensed injectors operating illegally.

4. They’re “Botox-Certified”… But That’s All They Say.

Let me be clear: a certificate doesn’t equal licensure. Plenty of weekend courses hand out certificates to people who legally can’t inject.

Always ask: “Are you a nurse? A physician assistant? Are you licensed in Colorado?”

If they can’t answer with a title and a license number, walk away.

5. There’s No Formal Consultation Or Aftercare Plan

Ethical injectors treat Botox as medicine, not a cosmetic impulse buy. You should have a consultation before treatment, where your medical history and goals are reviewed.

You should also receive post-treatment instructions. If they’re skipping those steps, they’re not practicing medicine, they’re selling procedures.

Botox, And Beyond: The Skin Company Way

Whether it’s your first treatment or your tenth, The Skin Company is here to make the process feel safe, empowering, and refreshingly educational.

We don’t believe in cookie-cutter treatments. That’s why we offer a curated menu of injectable options designed to meet you where you are, and take you where you want to go.

This is our cornerstone neurotoxin treatment, perfect for softening expression lines like crow’s feet, forehead creases, and “11s” between the brows.

But Botox is more than wrinkle control; it’s about muscle dynamics, symmetry, and subtle lift.
We use strategic muscle mapping to customize every dose so your results look natural, not stiff.

Looking for a lighter touch or faster onset? Dysport is a beautiful alternative to Botox. It spreads a bit more gently across the treatment area, making it ideal for dynamic zones like the forehead where soft diffusion matters. It’s also a go-to option for clients who’ve developed resistance to other neurotoxins.

SkinVive syringe

This isn’t your typical filler. SkinVive is an injectable moisturizer designed to hydrate your skin from the inside out. Think dewy, luminous, glassy skin, no filter required.

It’s the perfect complement to Botox or Dysport, especially if you’re looking to boost glow and bounce without adding volume.
