After exercizing, sweat!

If you don’t feel good about your body, you don’t feel good period.

We all sweat. It’s meant to regulate body temperature, but for some people there’s just a lot more of it. My business is to help people feel good, inside and out, so I really have compassion for anyone plagued by excessive sweating. I know it’s hard to feel confident when you’re constantly worrying about body odor or worrying about lifting up your arms. This is something that can be hard to discuss with even your doctor! Today I’m going to talk about a few things that can help.

The latest treatment on the market is less than a year old and not widely known. It’s called MiraDry, a microwave technology that knocks out sweat-gland ducts forever. The procedure is done over the course of two one-hour sessions. Sweat glands do not regenerate, so once they’re gone, they’re gone. As new as it is, the MiraDry device is available only at a limited number of doctors’ offices, and it carries a price tag in the thousands.

Only about three percent of the population suffers from the condition known as hyperhidrosis, which is the most severe form of excessive sweating. These are the people who are going to be lining up for MiraDry. Particularly if you’re not on that extreme end, I’d suggest looking into some less costly solutions. The most affordable solution is a product like Certain Dri, a nighttime-application deodorant that contains aluminum chloride, which block the sweat-gland ducts. It’s available in over-the-counter and prescription strengths. This is a good place to start when “super strength” deodorants aren’t cutting it for you. If that doesn’t work, consider Botox. One of its lesser-known uses is the temporary elimination or reduction of underarm perspiration. Like any other kind of Botox treatment, it’s a simple outpatient procedure that makes an immediate and long-lasting impact (about six months).

Here’s the bottom line: If you don’t feel good about your body, you don’t feel good period. If you’re among the one in ten people that feel like they sweat too much, I hope you’ll explore some of these options and find the confidence-saving solution that fits your needs and your budget!
